Dear Toastmasters and Honored Guests,
Here is the summary of the 125th meeting of our Istanbul Toastmasters Club which was held on Wednesday August 15th, 2012 at the Kervansaray Hotel in Taksim. This was also our last meeting for this summer and maybe this was one of the reasons that our Toastmaster of the Evening Tolga Yanaşık selected Shakespeare’s play “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as the theme of the evening.
Nazlı opened the meeting as Sgt-at-Arms and our President Alper Rozanes provided a brief opening statement in which he increased the excitement already present in the room by informing us that our club will now make video recordings of all meetings and upload these to our Istanbul Toastmasters website from where members can access them via a password.
Dear Toastmasters and Distinguished Guests,
The 119th meeting of the Istanbul Toastmasters club was held on Wednesday May 2nd at the Taksim Metropark Hotel. The theme of the evening was “Democracy”, a concept developed in the very region we live in by the ancient Greek city states, then further developed by the Romans which had a love hate relationship with the concept that appears to continue on into the present day. Hopefully, we will be able to set an example as the only Toastmasters club in the former capital of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire by turning our relationship with democracy into a more loving one when we vote for our new board members whose ideas are summarized below during our next meeting.
The 112th meeting of Istanbul Toastmasters was held Wednesday January 4, 2012 at the Taksim Metro Park Hotel. Maybe due to its being the first meeting in 2012 or maybe due the unusual theme “Cheese Mania!” selected by our Toastmaster of the Evening Alper Rozanes we had a very large attendance with many people having to squeeze in behind the tables and against the walls to participate.
